67x51", encaustic oils on canvas, 2018, Jim Foster
As soon as this painting was finished I knew it came from the latest big adventure of my life which was a fishing boat out in Sea of Cortez before the sun came up in the dark. It all started in loading up in the boat then trailered to the beach. We were floating off into the sea before the sun rose. This painting is the many horizon lines of light I witnessed as we were out in the water- we were completely surrounded by water till we came back and got out of the boat. Otherwise, it was being totally out to sea and the sight of land except for a distant shoreline.
The water glistened with fresh new sunlight. I had not been in the water surrounded by nothing but water for so long - so it was interesting.
