Marc Rothko taught us to see anew:

When we close our eyes- we see. The after-effects of what we were looking at are still in our memory bank in our mind. Boom Boom Boom the power of our inner brain is motivated to take this for granted but it is the power we are surrounded by all day by current events and things as simple as beautiful shadows. When our eyes are closed the mind is telling us we have reached a pure undivided point of realization-hence we crave simplification, we love the act of our thinking with the least distraction possible. Marc Rothko knew this as a key factor in his painting- staying simple let us see anew.
